Northwest Public & Community Service Pathways

 

Public and Community Service pathway students will graduate with experience in many skill-based options. All pathways place an emphasis on preparing students for service-driven industries. Students who decide to choose these pathways will be college prepared and career ready.  

Public and Community Service students can choose from six options:  

  • Audio Video Production: Learn about video creating, editing, and broadcast skills. 

  • Cybersecurity: Learn computing foundation and explore network safety. 

  • Energy Systems Technology: Learn the skills needed for critical facilities operations as well as related fields.  

  • Natural Resource Science & Management: Learn about environmental and natural resource sciences to be able to manage systems.  

  • Public Health: Learn about disease prevention and outreach efforts.  

  • Teaching as a Profession: Learn about a variety of education related fields while also exploring human development.

 

Pathway Options and Course Sequence 

Audio Video Pathway Courses:  

  • 10th Grade: Digital Media & Audio Video Foundations 

  • 11th Grade: Audio Video Productions 1-2 

  • 12th Grade: Audio Video Productions 3-4 

Cybersecurity Pathway Courses: 

  • 10th Grade: Foundations of Computing 1-2 

  • 11th Grade: H Cybersecurity 1-2 

  • 12th Grade: Cybersecurity 3-4 

Energy Systems Technology Pathway Courses: 

  • 10th Grade: Energy and Power 1-2*+ 

  • 11th Grade: Energy and Power 3-4* 

  • 12th Grade: Energy and Power 5-6* 

Natural Resource Science & Management Pathway Courses: 

  • 10th Grade: Environmental Science 1-2 

  • 11th Grade: Environmental Water Technology 1-2 

  • 12th Grade: Natural Resource Management 1-2 

Public Health Pathway Courses: 

  • 10th Grade: 10th Grade: Foundations of Healthcare+ & Medical Terminology+ 

  • 11th Grade: Public Health 1-2+ 

  • 12th Grade: Epidemiology & Disease Prevention 

Teaching as a Profession Pathway Courses: 

  • 10th Grade: Lifespan Development & Principles of Education and Training* 

  • 11th Grade: Best Practices in Education 1-2* 

  • 12th Grade: Education and Training Internship 

Advanced Academics 

  • Dual enrollment opportunities with Metropolitan Community College and University of Nebraska-Omaha.
